"Looking through glass"

Ok so I have just recently evolved as a momtographer lol , I started to see my kids through new  eyes.  While scrolling through facebook I discovered a photographer who completely opened my eyes to how I see my kids through my glass a.k.a my camera.  For as long as I could remember it was so imperative for me to have their clothes ironed, hair done, teeth brushed lol ( always a fight lol )  and by the time we started shooting my kids and myself were over it!!!! seriously over it!!!! The session typically resulted in NO SMILES lol and a very frustrated mommy. Since discovering my kids through fresh eyes I have taken images of them dirty, half dressed, hair a hot mess, sick, sleeping, and completely themselves!!! That process at first had  me feeling very vulnerable and exposed!   Then I realized my expectations of a session with my kids was infiltrated by the  way the world  has conditioned me to see through its very foggy and distorted "glass"  To many times we allow the "socially acceptable thing"  to be our reality and mommas that's just not how GOD designed us!!!  The more I begin to brake outta this "social box"  the more I fall in love with my kid's imperfections and guess what??? MY OWN  yep  I am not perfect lol my mess is my own and its apart of my journey. My kids are perfectly imperfect and I plan on capturing every booger nose, dirty face, scuffed knee, and tantrum lol yall get it lol from now on when I look through the glass I want to see my life just the way it is perfectly imperfect.

  1. YES! This is beyond beautiful, Amber. I am right there with you, friend. I will cheer with you to embracing the imprefections and allowing them to make our lives richer than we could ever imagine possible. Beautiful, Amber. You are an incredible mother!

  2. It seems like it would be an easier task than it is to just be "real and raw." I'm thankful for your vulnerability. I have always admired that about you!!

  3. The best pictures to me have always been the all natural (raw). That's why I love your work, you see things in ways that no one else does. Never change that, you have such a special gift that God has blessed you with. Keep doing exactly what you have been doing.
